xbox 360 and media centre question

Hi all, i have a 360, i am setting it up on the home network with my laptop. which is going ok. now the problem is my main home ps does not run media centre is this something i can down load and add or is xp media centre a whole new windows package ? i have lost the cd that came with my laptop so i cant just instll that. all advice is gratefully received.

    With Windows XP, media center is only available as part of a special version of XP called 'Windows XP Media Center' so yes you would need a to install a new operating system. If you are running Vista, nearly all editions come with Media Center included
