You could probably claim a personal allowance of £60 for fixed rate expenses.1

I learned a useful one today. My company pay 20p per mile but tell us to deduct home to base mileage in expenses claims when travelling to other locations so i’ve only ever claimed on p87 for the same mileage the company pay, company rate 20p v inland revenue rate 45p per mile.
i was informed today that the home to base the company make us deduct when visiting a different site can still be claimed back via inland revenue so gets the full 45p allowance/tax rebate.
Basically any home to base mileage your company ask you to deduct can still go on the p87 as long as the journey is not to that base.0 -

Perfectly valid as long as you have a nominated base from which you "normally" work.
You fill out your P87 as distance x 45p per mile and deduct £ what your employer has already paid you
You will then get a tax refund of that £ x your tax rate (probably 20%)
There are many other subtle aspects but in your context there is no need to go through them in this post0 -

Assuming the P87 is the correct form then they would claim 45p/mile (on up to 10,000 miles) and then deduct the mileage reimbursed by the employer.
And they then get tax relief on the net claim.
So as an example it might be something like this,
2,200 miles x 45p = £990
Less employer reimbursement £350
Net expenses claim £6400
