Universal Credit and Gift Aid Donations

I am about to migrate over to Universal Credit. Under Tax Credits we were able to deduct monthly gift aid donations made to charity from our income using worksheet TC825. As Christians we donate a few hundred pounds per month to charity. Is there still a way to deduct them under Universal Credit?

UC is generally based on net income and therefore from the claimant’s employed earnings can be deducted:- Any relievable pension contributions made to a registered scheme
- Income tax or national insurance contributions paid in the assessment period in respect of those employed earnings (note that although the legislation states only tax and NI in respect of the employed earnings can be deducted, in practice any tax that is paid is deducted even if it does not relate directly to the employment)
- Any sums withheld under a payroll giving scheme under Part 12, ITEPA

Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.2 -
Just remember the tax situation - ifvyou are a non-taxpayer then you need to pay HMRC the equivalent of the amount reclaimed by the charity2
