I have no idea who comes up with those comparisons. I'll be stunned if that fan is the sound of breathing from 5m away, never mind 1m.
My current one I think is rated at 40dB (can't find the exact one online) but you can still (faintly) hear it 12-15m away, through two closed doors. In the same room, you cannot make out a podcast on your phone on speaker at full volume unless you hold the phone to your head. And 40 dB is supposed to be a refrigerator hum or quiet office?
Dubious at best but I think anything will be an improvement!

Ha-ha! Yes, breathing at one metre sounds implausible, certainly for a fan that's doing any practical work.
But, it's clearly a quiet fellow by most standards, so chances are you'll be quiet content. (See what I did the... ohnevermind.)

After a bit of chaos, the install is largely done. Installed the new fan and it's significantly quieter without any noticeable drop in airflow, slightly better if anything. Possibly less humid after a shower but still too early to be sure.
However, breathing at 1m is not my assessment of the noise unless by breathing, they mean snoring. About 2m away, I'd say it's about the level of a conversation in an open plan office. Loud enough to hear clearly, quiet enough to filter out
A significant improvement on my last one though, which was closer to a crying baby on an airplane!
