Please advise, my mum who is 85 worked before she had me and my brother she has got 15years full stamp , and then she was a house wife from 1969 till she was 60 and took a very small pension my dad covers all bills.
After seeing programme about HRP I investigated my mum's national insurance payments ,from 1969 till I was 16 in 1988 the years say not full years but some are no payments and some have 28 pound 11 pound ? What determins HRP payments? and should my mum of had a full years stamp? as she was getting child benefit for me and my brother between 1978-1988 .
When I wrote to them following the show they have got a reply saying you all ready have HRP but she did not receive a full years stamp so her pension is so small .
Can some one please advise me as won't to know if my mum is missing out on money owed.

HRP did not credit NI, instead it reduced the number of years required to obtain a full basic state pension. Given her age this would have been 39 years.Unlike NI credits, you cannot get a partial year, it is either all or nothing. Any form of paid employment would disqualify that year for HRP qualification. What, if anything, did she do or claim any benefits between you turning 16 and her turning 60?0
