Capital One Transfer Limit

in Credit cards
On the balance transfer card for capital one it says (We’ll let you know if your full transfer amount is within your credit limit, before you apply). I’ve put in £1,000 and it says accepted and the credit limit on the page says up to £1,500 so I’m guessing I’ve been approved for a £1,500 limit on that card, I’ve called them up and they said they don’t know the limit until I’ve done the hard search (which I don’t want to do if it’s gonna be a small limit) but surely going by what it says on the site it must be a £1,500 limit, anyone else done this and can confirm how it works?. Thanks.

In effect any approved application can be reversed upon hard check on your history.Life in the slow lane0

Until they do the hard search you won't know the limit - NatWest were the only ones I personally have seen who gave an estimated proper limit (like say £5400 or whatever) that came through the same, rather than a representative rate before the hard check
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Strange as on the website it says this (We’ll let you know if your full transfer amount is within your credit limit, before you apply) so I’m guessing that means before a hard search.0

The balance transfer limit and credit limit are not necessarily the same. Check the Ts&Cs but sometimes the balance transfer limit is a % of the credit limit.0
