Protection of deposit with commercial lease

Is there any protection for the deposit of office leases as there is with retail tenancy deposits? If so, what’s the process?

    It's not normal, no. You can try negotiating something if you fancy trying.

    In general, you should really be getting legal advice about commercial leases, the laws assume both parties know what they're doing and can protect themselves against being ripped off.

    No, unless there is something in the lease about it (eg putting it into ESCROW).

    No legal requirement, unlike ATs & ASTs

    As a commercial landlord I can confirm there is no such requirement. Unlike residential leases, commercial leases tend to favour the landlord and as user1977 has suggested, legal advice is vital IMO.
