I live in an old Flat which i think is Edwardian, it has a 3m high celling and a large bay/bow window in living room. The current windows are old and are starting to rot, I can feel the wind coming in and mould is starting around the frame. Its also bloody freezing in here during winter and I have to run the heating full blast. So its time to bite the bullet and get new windows in before next winter. The bay window consists of 3 large windows just over 6ft hight and about 800mm across. I also a single windows in each bed room around the same size.
It's a total of five windows all the same size (three in the bay and one in each room) and I would also be looking to fit a UVPC Door.
So what sort of price should I be looking to pay for this job to get done? I am looking at local Glazer's and not going to any of the big companies that will try the hard sell on me. I am most concerned about keeping the heat in and as I live next to a main road also noise reduction so may consider triple glazing if its not to much more expensive.

When you see similar threads on here, price quotes/indications are pretty wide ranging, sometimes for no obvious reasons.
The quality of installation is probably more important than the quality of the frames/double glazing, which is standardised to some extent. So it is a good idea to ask about previous local jobs they have done and can show you.
Having the windows that can open puts the cost up, as does triple glazing.
My guess is that you are looking at £6K to £10K ?0 -
Seems even more expensive than I thought.0

Maybe £10K is a bit high for Scotland ( as opposed to more expensive parts of England)

Is the property in a conservation area or is it a listed building? That could make a difference on what materials you can use. What about the neighbours, have any of them renewed their windows recently? You could ask them what they paid.0

Its not a conservation area or is it a listed building. Someone changed their windows to UPVC in 2015 id expect the prices will have gone up a fair bit since then.0

So far iv had 4 smaller companies out to measure the windows and give me a quote and not one of them has wanted the job. Three never got back to me and one texted me saying they were declining because of the height factor !!!!!!! Its only a two story building.Iv been trying to avoid going to one of the large window fitting companies but the small guys only seem to want fast easy jobs.
This is getting ridiculous, whats going on here? Do they not like money!0 -
Have you tried Bridgeview?

So eventually managed to get some quotes and they are coming in around the 5k mark from smaller companies.0
