Buyer changed address - eBay says covered?

Just sold an item on eBay (private seller) for £150
Buyer messages me asking to confirm the delivery address.
I respond.
Buyer states its his old address and provides a new address, and to post there.
I state I can only post to the eBay registered address.
Buyer states he will change the eBay address asap and send me a screenshot where he has updated the address.
The order details and postage label still only provide me with the old address though.
Contacted eBay with phone call.
Have been informed that it is OK to edit the eBay label and post it to the new address. I questioned this as I thought I always had to post to the eBay registered address to be covered for any INR claims etc.
However she said as long as the buyer has messaged via the eBay system to state the change of address, then it is covered as they have visibility over the eBay messaging system, and she could see the message from the buyer asking to send to the alternate address.
I asked again and she confirmed it was OK since the buyer had messaged me requesting the change and I would be covered, not to worry.
Is this a new thing??

I think I may be OK - the new address is a Dental Surgery - just checked the website and he is listed (with a photo) as the principle dentist in the surgery. So all looks legit

EBay CS were wrong, you would not be covered . Personally for that price of item I wouldn’t send it to any other address, but suggest I cancel and relist and then buyer can change their address before they re buy.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. All good - sent buyer a message (via eBay messaging of course) informing them the item had been delivered. He responded to confirm delivery and all was OK0
