Hi
I am looking to purchase a new sofa and am concerned it may be a tight fit through my front room doorway.
I am looking to purchase a new sofa and am concerned it may be a tight fit through my front room doorway.
The doorway measurements are 194 cm high by 74 cm width.
Sofa measurement is
height 94 cm
width 197 cm
depth 99 cm
seat height 57 cm
arm height 76 cm
top back rail height 72 cm
It’s from M&S and they have said it should be ok.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated as don’t want to make a mistake.

When fresh from the factory, the sofa comes without feet and is tightly wrapped squashing down cushions. The delivery folk will also do their best to get it all in - for my last sofa delivery, a door was taken off its hinges in order to squeeze it in. They install the feet, take all the wrapping and put doors back before they go.0

It isn't as simple as the size of the doorway. Are there any awkward corners to get round once through the front door?

As above, when you go through my front door it's a 90 degree turn to the front room door so makes bringing in anything awkward.
Last sofa we bought, we took the living room window out!0 -
In your shoes, I'd get that in writing from them, along with an assurance that they'll take it straight back and give you a full refund if they turn out to be mistaken...junebaby said:

You can get sofas that once delivered need to have the rear and seating parts "clicked" together, ask suppliers about that option.Play with the expectation of winning not the fear of failure. S.Clarke0

Many (not all) IKEA sofas have 10 year guarantees, many have removable washable covers and there's hundreds of shops around the world that sell custom covers/feet/ for various IKEA models.
Yes, you will have to put the arms on etc., but there's squillions of YouTube videos (or you could pay someone to do it) and more importantly, it solves your door problem.
If you Google search, there's also a lot of reviews of various IKEA sofas too - "10 years later" sort of thing. Plus IKEA have reviews on their site and seem to be good about preserving any critical reviews.0 -
The suite we bought from Morley's department store was made in sections and clicked together by the delivery team once in our room. Had that not been the case then they offer to do a dummy run with a set presumably kept for that purpose.0

It's a long time since I've bought large items of furniture but the settee came in one piece.
