State Pension - The money we owe

I received a letter and form (SPL25D) from HMRC telling me that they have reviewed the amount of state pension my now deceased Mother received between 2 given dates (2006 - 2021,15 years) the dates they quote are from when my Father died and when my Mother died. Not sure if this is legit, but it seems to be, however I don’t know what its about. I am the executor of her estate and the letter is addressed to me. Would this be in connection with the then Widows pension? Any help would be appreciated, and as its the HMRC saying they owe money I will take whatever it is.

Haven't heard of that form but could it be connected to this?

It could be legit
I am a widower and never claimed on my wife's pension 12 years ago, I didn't realise I could.
HMRC wrote to me last year and sent me a cheque covering the 11 years and DWP added a small amount to my SP0 -

Notice should have come from DWP, not HMRC. Call them on on official number and ask

They asked me to verify myself and I asked them to do that first as I didn't know who they were.
They didn't want any financial details just when did my wife die
Then told me a letter would be coming from DWP1
