Question about social housing and having a garden

Options
Hello all

I posted a few weeks ago about queue positions on the register.

We are now at position 1, and the bidding closes today. I know this doesn't mean we will get it, as things may be changed according to needs/priority but what my question is, the GP mentioned in the letter how useful a Garden would be for our child who has additional needs. This property does not have a garden, will this mean they won't consider us as they may see it as unsuitable for our child's needs? Or is that more if the property needed adaptationsl

I wouldn't think the lack of garden would prevent an offer on the property.
GP mentioned it as a nice to have, it's not an accessibility need etc and presumably you bid knowing it hadn't a garden, or won't withdraw your bid now you know. So they will take that as your acceptance that property is suitable for child's needs.

Unless the garden is needed on health grounds and this is stated in the paperwork, it won't stop you getting the house you have bid for.  It was just a 'would be nice to have' from what you have said. Good luck.

I suppose have a think though because you don't want to be trying to move again in a few years because you need a garden for your child.
My son has ASD and the garden is a life saver and couldn't do without it.

Thank you so much for your replies. Turns out there is in fact a garden, they mistakenly put that it didn't. We have been offered and just waiting for repairs. Thanks all
Good to get your update. Hope it's a happy home for you.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
