5 week old Hotpoint Tumble Issue - what to do!?

Hi,
bought a Hotpoint condenser tumble dryer 5 weeks ago (from the Hotpoint rewards programme after having issue with a Hotpoint washing machine which an engineer resolved).

Yesterday the clean filter indicator illuminated for the second time (filter cleaned first time no issue) - filter has been cleaned second time and the indicator is still flashing.
Called Hotpoint “engineers” for advice but it was just the sales team. They offered me no advice other than the advice in the manual which has already been followed. We have two options 1) engineer call out and risk a £75 fee if no “manufacturer guarantee” issue is found or 2) sign up to their monthly scheme so call-out fee is covered.
I wanted to discuss with an actual engineer over the phone to try and self-troubleshoot, as I feel there is probably a simple solution to be found here (ie where is the sensor is that blocked or dirty) Dryer still works - however a friend lost their house 6 months ago after a tumble dryer fire caused by a filter block so not willing to risk anything.

Does anyone have any advice? No idea how to proceed.
Thanks in advance.

An actual engineer costs money, and they are unlikely to be able to diagnose over the phone
IMO your options are exactly as you point out, I would go with option 1 considering the age of the machine0 -
Came across your post and wondered if you got anywhere with it? We’ve got exactly the same issue with a Hotpoint Tumble Dryer. Be good to know if you got it sorted.0

So fair to say that we don't know as they never came back to update.Life in the slow lane0 -
I have a heatpump Hotpoint tumble dryer, and the filter light comes on at fixed intervals (after every second or fourth use, I forget which), and does not clear until the the machine is used again. In other words, it is more like a reminder to clean the filter, and has no relation to the actual state of the filters (of which there are two...).(Of course, models may vary.)0
