Credit identification error

Options
Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me.

I am 24, but since the age of 18 my bank thought I was 14 for 4 years, with the complete wrong date of birth. This has now been rectified   This has majorly affected my credit score and credit checks etc.

I have several credit agreements with various different suppliers, including a mortgage with my boyfriend. With any credit agreements I have, I pay them back fully every single month, I don’t ever miss a payment.

I have tried to get an Experian credit report but I cannot be identified. I can only be identified via Equifax where I have to pay around £15 a month just so I can view credit report on the odd times that I need to.

However, my credit score is so low. I am absolutely fed up and I don’t know who else to ask now.

I really hope to get some insight on this.

Thanks!

Your credit score is a gimmick, no lender ever sees it, low or high is irrelevant. If your date of birth is now right and you have a solid history of paying on time, then is there an issue now with you getting credit?

You don't need to pay equifax anything, you can use Clear Score for free or they have to supply your record file on demand for free

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

If it has been corrected, what on-going impact is it having?

In the UK you do not have a credit 'score'.  Other, that is, than the randomly generated number that CRA's produce for entertainment purposes and for the amusement of those that collect numbers.  That aside, as above, what impact are you experiencing on your credit standing?

No you don't.  You do not need to subscribe to any CRA to view your credit history.  It is available free from all of them and you can cancel your subscription.

Cheer up.  No need to feel fed up about a meaningless score'.
