24febstarter said:Yes, I said record but meant a 7-inch single, NOT a small parcel. Hence the overcharged postage. And there genuinely are customised record mailers made of thick card and customised stiffeners, all available for sale on Ebay. Having bought and sold I have a supply of these.
Obviously, as a buyer I'll look at the overall cost for items in the same condition. But as a seller I like to be close to the top of the list so that my items sell quick. Which is difficult enough when trying to sell things like records (often a buyers' market), not helped when the competition undercut an item price by inflating their postage costs. So a LL , assuming you can keep it under 250g, would be £2.40 at the PO, plus the mailer at £1.20 and even before eBay FVFs on the postage you are virtually at £4.Obviously a business selling 7 inch singles could keep the overall price of the boxes down by by buying in bulk, my own boxes I buy for my items work out a lot cheaper if I buy 100 or more at a time, but for someone just selling a few records they probably do have to pay over the odds for mailers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Record mailers for singles start at around 35p depending on how many you buy in bulk. You can fit maybe 3 records inside one mailer and tape 2 together if sending more. I think 7 or 8 records will still go large letter based on the overall thickness and weigh under 500g. It sounds like you may have used the larger fold-out corrugated card packets/boxes?
But even without bespoke mailers you can make a square mailer from a C4 envelope, something to stop water getting in and some pieces of card from old cereal packets. I've done that too.
As with a lot of these things, it probably helps to have a supply of packaging coming in that you can reuse for sending out, so it effectively works out free of charge.

Has anyone heard any more about when RM tracked 24 and 48 will be available at post office counters.
I went to a large PO today to take my weekend sales and still no one knew.
Had to buy standard 2nd class and special delivery again for a couple of more valuable items.

Once they're gone, they're gone.
Out of principle, I'll continue using large letter and small parcel postage bought at a sub-post office until RM gets their finger out and do what they promised wef 2/4/24.
Almost all of my parcels are less than £20 though.0 -
Yes, there is no option to buy tracked 24/48 in the PO , just to buy a label online, and either print or bring a QR code t to the PO for a label to be generated there.
Currently though , i have posted 6 items with tracked 48 and ALL have been late . I do not know what 24/48 means as it is absolutely not related to postage timescale. And , 2 of the 4 parcels have gone missing... Currently one at 12 days, and one at 9 days. The tracker states they have reached their respective MC, but they have not moved since.0
