Cheery, we've been living here in a town for three years now & I still miss the silence of the Farm! I do however love walking just about anywhere in 15 minutes or under & seeing actual live people!
Enjoy your holibobs & don't forget to treasure every bit of it, including having to put up with each other's sleep habits - LOL4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!5 -
Ooh yes, I do indeed miss being able to walk to places! If we do end up moving back to the city I know I'll enjoy that, even if I do miss the space and the views.
In the meantime, cheerfulness continues 😊 The weather has been lovely today 😊 I read my book and gazed at the sea while Mr Cheery had a lie in, we breakfasted on homemade granola in the room, then we sat in a comfy chair and had our free Octopod/N3ro coffee 😁 £2.15 spent between us. More charity shops (for Mr Cheery, a day without charity shops is a wasted day) and then a leisurely walk up quite a steep hill 😂 We rewarded ourselves with ice cream for me, and coffee for Mr Cheery, and a biscuit to share - total of £6.40 I think. Took some homemade flapjack with us too.
Then a long walk back down, a sit on a bench by the sea, then he's had a snooze and I have had a much needed soak in the bath with a magazine I got in a charity shop for 50p 😂
Tonight will be a bit more spendy as we are planning on going out for a curry. Don't think we'll beat yesterday's £7-between-us dinner 😂
So all in all, not a super spendy holiday so far, although I am, as ever, feeling fortunate to have a holiday at all.
Tomorrow will be more expensive - we plan on visiting a tourist attraction in another town, one I've not been to since I was about 8 years old 😂14 -
Spending to report today. Approximately £50 on a curry last night including alcohol, and we brought leftovers back to store in our little fridge.
Excursion today. Free parking, and just £7 on tea and scones, but then £27 entry fee 😮 Another £6 on drinks. More free parking when we got back to the hotel though (hotel doesn't have its own parking so we are hunting round for free places.
I have had a nice soak in the bath with a book while Mr Cheery bought some musical equipment, and then shortly we are going out for chips on the beach 😁 Very much looking forward to that,and possible ice cream and olympics again 😁
Only popped in to report £2.55 cash out from TCB, won't add it to the spreadsheet til it arrives but it's a nice start to August's free dosh!14 -

Just been reading about mortgage overpayments on EH's thread and popped in to check our balance, currently standing at £159,040.91. Spreadsheet says £159,224.35 so we are marginally ahead of ourselves (or, more likely, the spreadsheet is slightly inaccurate 😂)
Tried to check the overpayment sheet but it's awkward on the phone and still has experimental rates from when I was checking for potential new fixes back in February - 6.35% 😱 Fortunately things have come down since then and we'll probably be looking at around 4.4% with existing lender, although no letter yet. I'll ring them on Monday if it's not arrived by then. Fix is up 31st October, so under 3 months now.
Anyway, no idea why my mind drifts to financial planning on holiday 😂 space to think, I think!
We are off on another excursion today, chosen by Mr Cheery, and no entry fee so cheaper than yesterday 😂 But first I am going to sneak off to a tiny museum just round the corner while he has a lie in 😊😊8 -
We are home! 😃 Via a lovely stopover last night with friends, and a cafe trip with them this afternoon. And a lay-by, because I had been reading my phone in the car and was convinced I was going to be sick, I felt so nauseous 🙄 Fortunately I wasn't, but we did another detour to a supermarket for some proper food, as I realised all I'd eaten by 4.30pm today was breakfast and an ice cream 🙄😂
Got home to find a cow casually hanging out under the washing line 🙄
Managed to herd it back into the field, but in the process Mr Cheery dropped the car (and house) keys in the long grass... So we spent another 15 mins trying to retrace his rather winding steps...
Anyway, we are in, we have hot drinks, and I am running myself a bath 😂
Very pleased with ourselves for having a good tidy before we left. The house smelt a bit fusty after being shut up for a week, but otherwise the main areas were cleaned and hoovered and dusted 😊 I've started unpacking already, but everything else can wait til tomorrow.
Main priority tomorrow is presents for Mr Cheery's birthday on Monday. So, a list...
* nip out for presents
* figure out where cow got into the garden (you'd think it would be obvious...) 😂
* holiday washing
* 15 mins in flylady zone
* YNAB/banking
* open regular savers
* list for the rest of the week - want to get started with some DIY after birthday celebrations are over.11 -
The cow could have at least pegged some washing out, how rude! Glad you had a good time away.7

The cow made me smile.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!2 -

😂😂 thanks all, glad I am providing you with some entertainment 😂😂
The cow (along with another one that got in last week) had started to munch the patch of grass in the garden that I leave to grow through the summer, so yesterday I got the scythe out and took it all down - it was drying out and flopping over so now is a good time, and it didn't take long.
Had a lovely peaceful hang around in the hammock afterwards 😊😊
Today is Mr Cheery's birthday, so we are doing all his favourite things - currently in a supermarket cafe 😂10
