Ground Rent - invoice legitimacy

I've got an invoice for ground rent from a property management company on behalf of a landlord company. I'm sure it's legit, but how would I actually know that? My documents from the house purchase name two individuals not a company. In theory, anyone could send out ground rent invoices. Is there a way to verify it?

Which "documents"? The freehold interest can be sold like any other property, so if it's an ancient Lease between Smith and Jones, it's very likely that neither Smith nor Jones are still around - but the lease is still valid between the current freeholder and leaseholder.
If you want to know who the current owner is you can check on the Land Registry.
Why are you querying it now though? Presumably you were told when you bought who the freeholder was then, and you would/should have been told about any change in their ownership.0 -

Just to make sure - what documents are you looking at?
If it was the lease, it will show who the freeholder was when the lease was first granted - who is not necessarily the current freeholder.
But the LPE1 form should show the current freeholder (at the time you purchased) - maybe in a section that looks like this:
