Temporary or permanent, you are living outside the UK in a country where increases to state pension aren't paid.

Your pension will go up to the current rate if you return to live in the UK - and start paying council tax again (or at least register for it and then apply for exemption, as the case may be).

Is the State pension your only income?  If so, have you investigated the cost of a spouse's visa etc should you marry and return to the UK?
  • Are you legally in Thailand?  I thought that the longest non immigrant visa was 90 days so you must have applied for a resident visa which in itself proves you are not resident or contributing to the UK

According to a previous thread OP is there for at least 3 years: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6493316/debanked#latest

..and indeed whether you will meet the income/savings requirements: https://www.gulbenkian.co.uk/spouse-visa-financial-requirement/#

It ALL depends on what YOU have told DWP regarding your current address.
I haven't told DWP anything other than I have no address in the UK because my house was sold and I stayed in a Lodgings house for a few months 5-6,  while I finished all my affairs and I have an address in Thailand  where DWP can write to and thats it . I have told DWP im only here to find a wife then I will return to UK and what little savings I have will try and buy a small house.....
I cannot live in the Uk alone I have issues with loneliness .....Thats it !
I am writing a letter explaining my position and my mental health maybe I can effect a change ......
Cheers Ayr_Rage for all your help

What is your status in Thailand as you can only be there for a max 90 days on a standard visa?  Have you applied for a residency visa?

Then it sounds as if you've actually told DWP 'everything' - ie you are residing outside the UK for an indefinite period; you hope to find a wife in Thailand; and you intend to bring her to the UK when you have 'little savings' and no job.

I'm afraid that loneliness issues aren't going to alter the legislative position (although I do hope your mental health improves).

When he returns to the UK will his pension change to the current figure, and subsequently receive applicable increases in following years? Or will it stay as-is but start receiving increases again.
