Samsung galaxy in stand by

How do I decrease the time between not using my Samsung galaxy and it going into stand by mode  (the point where I need my fingerprint to open it again)  for instance after use I leave it idle, I'd like least time possible

Settings / Lock Screen / Secure Lock Settings

Also look at - Settings / Display / scroll down to Screen Timeout

Thanks for that but I want the phone to lock, not just the screen to go off

Have you got Smart Lock enabled? This keeps the phone unlocked if you are in a secure location (such as your home) based on the GPS location.

Lock screen>Secure lock settings
