Hi all. Just been approved by First Direct for their gold CC, 12 months 0% on purchases, and I enquired about any charges overseas, and the agent on the phone said the only charges were currency conversion at the "mastercard rate" but I was under the impression their CC were Visa while their debit cards are MC, just threw me, but forgot to ask the question tbf. Have they changed? Can anyone advise?
CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

The website suggests it's a Visa card. The summary box says it charges 2.99% non-sterling transaction fee: https://www.firstdirect.com/content/dam/wpb/fsdt/en/documents/pdf/gold-card-summary-box.pdf0

You're better off reading the T&Cs which you'll see they load the FX rate by 2.99% and therefore aren't charging the network rate.0 -
My FD Gold Credit Card is Visa and Debit is Mastercard with First Direct. I don't use the CC abroad as it is not good value and use my Halifax Clarity CC for that.1

I know this because I subscribe to a foreign newspaper using this card and the charge is applied. The debit card is meant to be fx fee free but I have never tried it with an fx transaction.0

Thanks all. Don't intend using it abroad anyway unless it's an emergency, use my Zopa card for that, but now I know it's Visa. Thanks for the inputs.
