Critical Illness Claim - how long to process?

I submitted a Critical Illness Claim to Legal & General at the mid-January 2024.  I spoke to someone at their call centre in February and they said it should be processed by the beginning of March.  The web portal just says 'under review' and I've just been informed they give themselves 9 working days to make a call back.  Can anyone tell me how long a claim usually takes to process?

Thanks

  • When we claimed the incident happened April, probably claimed early May and we received the payment in August.

I think the rule of thumb is around 3 months.

Anything from a couple of weeks to a year.  Largely depends on the type of illness and how good your GP or the consultants are at responding to requests for details.

Both in terms of speed of response and quality of response.

Having dealt with doctors for other classes of insurance they can be shockingly bad, especially for the fees they charge! More than once sent a questionnaire, paid the fee, got back the questionnaire blank other than signed and stamped and a photocopy of the patients full medical records.  Pushed back and said we needed the questions answered not the full records and they had the cheek to say we should pay the fee again as this was a new request.
