Happy birthday! Leave the case on - protects the tech & makes it easier to spot. (Mine in hi-viz lime green after more tasteful colours got lost repeatedly.) Remember it is a very smart memory stick with a screen, so do back it up - sure, Amazon will have copies, but why wait for Bezos' systems to cooperate when, with a little pragmatic ruthlessness, you can carry on reading on another device at will?

If you sign up for Kindle unlimited for a month or even better get one of the free trial periods (up to 3 months) as it comes to an end load up with as many books as possible then just turn off the WiFi and you will keep the books until you next go back on line. Obviously this does not work on phone / ipad as they are constantly connected.
You can get quite a lot of box collections that have several book in but only count as one download so for the price of one month you could easily get 6 months or more reading.

I love my paper white. Not sure what tips I can give other than, enjoy! I tend to stock up on 99p offers so always have something to read. You can tell it not to show the books you have already read in the library.

I’ve just read this and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I thought it was a good book and really created the era and the impact on the local community.
I'm part way through Good People by Patmeena Sabit and it is soooo good. It's a mystery centred around an Afghan family living in America and the story is unfolding through snippets from their friends, colleagues, teachers, business associates. I can't wait to find out what happens! Best book I've read in a long time.

I’ve just finished When we were silent by Fiona McPhillips. Quite disturbing (abuse, coersive behaviour themes 🙁) and won’t be passing it on.
Have just started The Twyford Code by Janice Hallett. Not sure it’s for me as it’s currently transcripts from audio recordings. I was gifted a box of books as someone was moving soon like I’ve wasted money on them!
That book sounds good @Blackcats I’ll look out for it.

I've signed up to Bookbub - you get a daily email with 99p books on whatever platform of your choice (Kobo for me, but can also add Amazon) and the genres you choose. I find it a handy way to pick up on any bargains and my daily emails contain anywhere from 10-15 books so it is not onerous to check it.

Thanks @MrsCD. It was a good day.
Bookbub are the reason I have at least 1,000 Kindle-books. I’ve probably only read about 20 of them. Be warned, if you are watching the pennies, it can be a cause of them trickling away, 99p on this book, 99p there…
