We often go away in our caravan and I used to download on my Macbook things to watch from BBC iPlayer as we often do not have either TV reception or good mobile/WiFi, but now they have stopped this.
Can i download from Netflix or Prime?  If so how?
If not is there a site that I can download from with UK content?

Netflix - only if you can get the ‘app’ on the macbook, not through the website

iPlayer, Netflix, Prime, HBO Max, AppleTV+ all allow you to download onto a mobile device (imagine other UK terrestrial TV apps will too just dont have them on my phone). So then just connect your phone/tablet to your TV to display it.

Not sure where you are getting the info that you can't download BBC iplayer content - just tried it on my (android) mobile and no issues.

They have turned off downloading on computers etc but you can still download on mobile devices. Guessing the OP was downloading on a computer and putting it on a thumb drive for the TV or such.

Presumably you have the Prime app rather than the website on your Mac? Dont use Prime often on my Mac but having just checked it works fine for me to download... if you try to download on the website it kicks you over to the app.

Use a mobile phone with the phone apps if you can, rather than a laptop.
Then 'cast' the content to the TV.
You may need an additional device to enable you to cast content to the TV, something like an Amazon firestick.
BBC, Netflix, Prime etc will all be available to you then.

It is when you browse to the BBC or Prime in a browser, eg Safari, and login to the website that the problems with downloading content occur, use the apps and you can continue to use downloads.

Ok so now I have BBC iPlayer on my old iphone, how can I watch things on the TV?
Plus is it possible to speed up the downloading?  A 1hour program takes 17 minutes On my Macbook I could select to download in SD to speed it up.

On the android version, in settings/downloads, there's a toggle to switch off 'higher quality downloads'
