Hi all 

Not sure where to post this, but I need some advice on cleaning my bathroom, especially around the toilet, it has been suggested a good enzyme cleaner is useful, but what are these, are Viakal and Zaflora any?

Viakal is a limescale remover and Zoflora is a  scented disinfectant.

Enzymatic cleaners are usually sticks.

I've managed many decades without hearing about this.
Is it something awful in the toilet or around it?
Lots of household products can or should do the trick.

Are you trying to clean urine out of carpet or something like that?

Sorry for the confusion folks, it was just a general question, I’m not trying to clean anything nasty out of carpets, just the usual grubbiness you get I guess, as I don’t own any pets or children to cause that much of a mess, i just saw a video about cleaning your toilet properly as tbh I’ve neglected this area of the bathroom and thought I’d tackle it this weekend, anyway this women was spraying and cleaning around the toilet 🚽 with an Enzyme Cleaner 🤷‍♀️ I just wondered what the ? is that, I’ve never heard that phase ‘Enzyme Cleaner,?

It will just be using enzymes rather than acid or an alkali to help lift/dissolve dirt and remove odours.

 But whether it will work will depend on what issue you want to tackle in the loo - I have hard water, so limescale is what I mostly need to tackle, and white vinegar or Viakal is what I tend to use to deal with that. 

If it's limescale above the waterline I put pieces of loo roll over it which will stick to the dampness, and then spray* white vinegar over them to soak them, then leave... And then flush. I leave overnight (or all day if I do it before going to work).

Viakal is in my loo brush holder so if I need to brush I'm also doing a bit of descaling (plus it's not as pongy as some toilet cleaners)




*I put an old window/glass cleaner spray head on a glass bottle of Sarson's white vinegar, and now just refill that bottle with white vinegar from a larger bottle.

If you do this, DON'T use bleach as well, unless you wish to gas yourself.
