New oven and hob

I'm looking to replace my very old oven and hob.
Not looking for anything all singing and dancing, are there any brands to avoid?

Gas or electric? If electric, what type for the hob?
    Target budget?

induction hob, and don't bother with an oven just get an air fryer.
just read the question properly, if you don't want anything fancy you still want to go for mid range, avoid the bottom of the range.  I see loads of Beko, Logik and Lamona ovens that are 2-3 years old and not repairable, all that goes wrong is the element but they are so difficult to replace and it's not cost effective
  • Baumatic gas ovens are different in how they work so are a bit weird if you’re not used to them. I’ve always found Bosch appliances to be very good value; not the cheapest, but seem to last well (for me anyway)

I always think Ikea are worth looking as they have 5 year warranties on almost all their appliances.

  • Also look for ex display. Places like John Lewis always have some on the shop floor with reasonable discounts and the normal warranty. I know you’re not after one but I’ve just purchased a Bosch drawer plate warmer for £99, reduced from £390 odd.  The bargains are there, just need to find them.
