DRP Threatening text

Hi Everyone
I'm hoping someone might be able to help me with advice as to what to do? I have tried reading the newbie posts but am still confused, I have had a threatening text from a company calling themselves drp (heaven knows how they obtained my mobile number?), they are saying I owe money for a parking ticket and that they have written to me but I have not responded? I have not (to my knowledge received any letters from drp). I thought it was a scam text so went on to the website address they included in the text and typed in the reference number they texted me, it said click here to see details of the case however when I clicked there were no details just a click point to pay, so I did not click on it. the text reads as follows: "DRP have tried to contact you by letter,if you don't contact us now we will treat this as an active choice not to pay.To prevent the matter escalating please pay now at paydrp dot com quoting reference number.............PCN...........VRM.............
I have read the various threads about ignoring them etc and I want to do that but I just don't want to get into a scenario where it goes to court etc. BTW it must've been my wife as she drives the car I drive a van so very rarely do I get in it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Are the V5C logbook details up to date? Have you moved at any point in the last few years and updated your licence details but not the V5C logbook? That is usually the main reason why the keeper doesn't receive anything until contacted by a debt collector who probably did a credit reference search to obtain an address or phone number.2

WHO IS THE PARKING COMPANY ?
DRP are simply money scammers whose hobby is to send trash letters or text
DRP cannot escalate , they are powerless and they lie
You can escalate any letters or text from them to the total rubbish bin, great for a cat litter tray if you have a cat
If you hear further about this, not the likes of DRP though, come back here2 -
It is becoming more and more common for motorists to receive calls and letters from powerless debt collectors yet never receive the initial NTK nor reminders. That's why there is now a petition to try to get the government to force parking companies to provide proof of postage when they allegedly send documents. Calling @Nellymoser.
All you can do is wait to see if the PPC contacts you in writing so you will then be able to fight it.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks4 -
Going to court is best, it's impartial and the safest option. Surely you don't want to engage with someone who sends a text that directs you to a website where there are no details other than making a payment. If I received that txt I'd forward it to SCAM TEXT 7726 adding a txt message..no details on website only payment option.
Once you've checked your V5C as Debszzzz2 said you may wish to support this
So many people don't receive 1st and/or 2nd pcn but the £170 payment due letter often manages to drop through letter boxes. PPCs always claim discounted/full rate pcns/court claim letters were sent as dated though they offer no evidence to prove this.
Since they CHOOSE NOT to provide evidence of their posting we must continue to press gov to ensure they do and see it included in the new Parking CoP. Please sign/share @jmccabe petition closes 22nd june 2024.

Hi
Thank you all for your comments. I think someone is trying to scam me as I went on the drp site that was texted to me and could not find anything other than a payment option but I subsequently went back to it earlier to show my wife and the site cannot be reached, and the drp.co.uk site does not recognise the reference numbers I was texted? So I am assuming that they tried to scam me? Btw my log book is up to date, I will forward it to scam text 7726. What worries me though is how on earth did they get my phone number and my car's reg. number too? With reference to these debt collectors need to have proof of sending, I agree 100%, I recently was stopped for speeding by the police and they told me that they would send me a notice of intended prosecution within 14 days, it has now been nearly 21 days and I still have not received anything? I wonder if they use the same tactics as the debt collectors? I would love to hear from anyone who has been stopped and not received a nip or summons? I also signed the petition. Many Thanks2 -
You might want to check with DVLA to see if anybody has requested your details.1

DRP are a DRA who huff & puff for scum parking operators so I think you do have a private PCN, where letters have been going to your old address. Not that you pay these things of course. DO NOT PAY.
The missing NIP is more seriousPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Hi I don't really need to check as I have lived in the same house for 14 years so I am 100% sure the log book has the correct address, however as stupid as it sounds I just went to check it and it has indeed got my current address, but thank you for the advice all the same.2
