Cash switch bonus

I wanted to switch to Natwest and get the £200 switch bonus but it says you can't have had the switch bonus from them since January 2020. My previous account was with Natwest and i believe I did get the switch bonus, however I don't know if this was before or after Jan 2020. How would you check this?

Check for emails from the time. Check credit records (if the account was opened at the time).

I would still give it a go, a number of people are reporting that they have been able to get the bonus, even when switching as soon as last year.

If you're unsure about NatWest and are unable to check then I would go for RBS or Ulster instead. Have you applied to either of these before? If you got the NatWest bonus since 2020 then you're unlikely to get it again this year if you apply to NatWest.

they are all under the same group so the switch rule applies to all of them, eg if I've had cash from Natwest I still wouldn't be entitled to cash from RBS or Ulster

Technically yes, but in reality no. All 3 operate separately. Many have managed to get bonuses from all 3.

I should find out tomorrow or Monday how well they enforce this - I switched to NatWest in December 19, payment Jan 20, switched to RBS this week, payment deposited

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

They are but there isn’t any cross checking being done, I have for example just received from all 3. So this option will work for you if you don’t qualify for NatWest
