Balance Transfer Oddity

So I recently performed a balance transfer and on the card I transferred the balance from I've received a charge of "Standard Balance Transfer Interest" and it's more than double what the balance transfer fee was on the card I moved the balance to. 

Is that just a thing they can do or do I need to fight this?

The old card was Vanquis and yes it was.

I don't know why have called it that - you would need to ask them, not us, but interest is charged on the full balance, even after clearance, up to the point of the monthly payment and then there is always trailing interest the month after before the card is truly empty
