Where to put money from UK house sale, living and hoping to buy in France

I'm selling my house in the UK, but I live in France (temporary card to remain).
Its around £250k
I'm looking to buy somewhere here so might need to access it after 4/5 months
I could feasibly keep up to 40k in a savings account for a longer time.
Do you know what my options might be? I'm unsure as I'm not living in the UK at the moment (but do have an address I can use there).

You're unlikely to be able to open a UK account if you're not living here, but presumably the conveyancer handling the sale will be able to forward the proceeds to your French account, either directly or via a currency broker that offers better rates?1
