I wouldn't pay with bank transfer, at least not in full. Section 75 protection is well worth having.
I have just bought a car from a main dealer they wouldn’t take payment any other way
Most dealers will allow a deposit (say £500) on card because the fee is relatively low vs the rest of the deal, but few will allow a CC for full payment of the car
The one I bought from wouldnt…I tried.  Was a main SEAT dealer

I'd walk if they wouldn't let even £1 go on there

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Having helped purchase over 20 cars for friends and family I would avoid any dealer be it main or corner of the road.
If a small deposit ie £100 - £500 is not accepted via a credit card.

I find the best deals online, via broker etc.
Print out details and quotes, then help with the negotiations.
Only once has a section 75 been started.
That was with my own car, how ironic.
Started the claim on a Thursday, Monday morning the dealer called, I took the car back and was refunded.
This was a Peugeot main dealer.
To be honest I’d contacted Peugeot directly, hammered facebook with negative comments and a video.
Where my car with 100 miles on the clock turned in a circle if the wheel was not held tight.
Whatever caused them to take it back, section 75 on complaints I was very pleased.

When I went to Peugeot at Chiswick High Road to buy another 5008 to replace the one that went back,
I was allowed to pay via my credit card. The whole balance.

Given OP is talking about PCP & paying off. They still have S75, as it does not end as you have paid the finance off.

But people need to stop thinking S75 is a cover all insurance policy. It is not.
