New poster, hello everyone.
My newly widowed sister is paying £60 weekly to Happy Homes who take care of all her financial outlays for bills, community charge etc. She is so nervous about leaving this dubious organisation that the rest of the family have tried to find out all the regulations about this company, with no luck. We have resorted to this forum hoping someone can help us. She is paying a fortune to this company but has virtually no bills to pay, she is mortgage free. Historically she and her late husband did low paid jobs and were always worried about budgetting, they chose this company against family advice as a way of losing the fear of not being able to meet some bill or other, the company must be laughing all the way to their bank.
If any of you have any knowledge, please let me know. Short of going through her personal papers behind her back, we don't know how to find out notice periods or other problems before we set about once again trying to persuade her she does not need to pay such a company when her own bank will help her set a much lower budget.

Hi there. No, I don't know where they are based. My sister lives in Birmingham and seems to have used this company for years, I think they used to be called Secure Homes. She is not wanting us to interfere so we are trying to find out something about this company without really knowing anything at all so that she won't get upset with us and think we are taking over.
Any knowledge appreciated.0 -

Very nice website that makes it all look easy, and fantastic value. If you work it out, with Council Tax, Water, Gas, TV License and Leccy (maybe a Loan?) you are not that far short of £60 a week. I can see that this might be a useful service for people who are paid weekly, but cannot cope with budgeting for Monthly payments. It might be costing her a few pound a Month, but if she is happy with the arrangement, and it helps her manage her money, it might be best to leave well alone. After all, if she messes up and starts incurring Bank charges it will cost her a lot more.
I just filled in their calculator as I was curious, and for a Monthly outlay of £240 the fee is £14 which hardly seems excessive. I hope this helps and puts your mind at rest.0
