What temperature is it inside/outside your home?

I turned the heating off an hour ago. It is 7.30 am and the inside temp is 19, outside is 10 and I feel very warm and comfortable. Heating had been on for 20 minutes
If we get any sun at all, it will shine through the large french doors into my kitchen, and windows to lounge (floor 1) and bedroom (floor 2) so the house will remain warm without any central heating
If it is a dull, damp day then I will put the heating on later because damp makes it feel chillier0 -
Ours is set to 17c, it comes on at 5.30am and then off at 7.30am then on again at 5pm until 7pm. We do sometimes stick it on all day if we're all here but it stays at 17 so doesn't always come on. Can't abide having the heating on at night, makes me feel stuffy, we always have a window open at night in the main bedroom and windows are opened every morning once the heating is off for a half hour blow through to freshen the place up.
I grew up in a house with no heating so learnt that you layer up and always have something on your feet and head...fingerless gloves were a godsend too.
There's no way I could have it set to 20 or more - layers people!!! (or failing that a few :j )"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
....so there ARE people who want it warmer than me!;) I dont use my electric blanket all night though - just the first few minutes to take the chill off the bed, then I start throwing the umpteen layers of bedding off my bed (well - the bedroom isnt exactly chilly after that level of heating! - though I never use any heating in that room).0

According to Hoot the owl I have attached to the wall next to me (I named him Hoot btw) it is 23 degrees C, which I find rather unlikely. If I rub it with my finger I can get it to 28. Yeah, I am bored at work, so what?!"I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -
My heating is set at 18. The OH doesn't seem to have noticed that I have moved it from the mingy 15 he set it at.
I feel cold more when I am tired. So when I come in from an 8 hour shift at work which starts at 5.30am I only feel like sitting around or sleeping and the house is always freezing by then.
My DS is always complaining that his room is too cold. It is often 16 in there.
He is like me though, quite happy out biking in the cold, ir doing something physical.
My thremostat has been on for an hour and is now off again however it has gone up to a whopping 10 degrees outside so shouldn't be so bad today.
I wish I was in Oz lashy. I was there last dec and the Aussies were all worried about it being too hot for me, especially in the outback. But 40 degrees was lovely.
Probably because I spend so much of my life too cold.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

And back on topic, my heating is set at 18 and went off at 10.45pm last night! it is currently 14 in my bedroom, warmest room in house!!0 -
We don't have a thermostat...
We have two boilers, one at each end of a very long house. They just have a dial on from 1-5... we generally have it set at three.
Does anyone know what this means in terms of temperature (I am assuming there is no direct correlation between the numbers and temps.. eg. 1.5=15c, 2=20c and so on - if this was the case, we would be baking on occasions at 40c!!!)0 -
Going back 8 or 9 years, the heating used to come on between 6-9am and 5-10pm between mid October and end of April, no matter what the weather. If it was really cold I'd light the coal fire, otherwise I'd just keep layering up or keep busy. (just me at home through day then).
The price of heating oil has nearly tripled in that time yet the heating is on much more now! OH expects to be warm enough at all times in just a t-shirt. He would happily sit in a room topping 25C, whereas it makes me feel ill.

According to a thermometer as we don't have a thermostat inside, boiler just has one on that you control the radiator temp with, 14 in my living room and 8/9 in the kitchen, brrr, 5 outside, time for another layer I think.....kids keep insisting on running round in just a tshirt. I feel a bit of a tight sod now but last month our gas bill was £50 for the month, wasn't even a full month or on constantly, I just can't afford to have it on all the time. You can tell my partner is out, because he's like many mentioned and would be happily sat in tshirt and shorts with the heating blasting, somewhere around 20+ degrees. He also prefers it on at night, which I hate, I if I could would have the window open even when it's a few below freezing. One day I might be more organised...........

hark the violin of times past:) : as children, we grew up in a cold, draughty terraced house with one coal fire. We went to bed dressed up and woke up to ice on the INSIDE of the windows. We wore woollen clothes and were never still, in front of the pc or tv because we didn`t have any then. We ate appropriately ie hot thick soups etc
Anyone of my age can remember standing with their back to the fire and not wanting to move away
I have grown up very very healthy. No illnesses and no allergies
and it is 18 inside and 10 out now. I am not cold because I have been busy making thick soup0
