Hi there,

Please can someone help.

Since the Facebook outage on 05/03/2024 I've tried relogging into my account and requested to reset my password as I was concerned I might have been hacked.

But now when I go to log in it attempts to send an authentication code but the problem is it's going to my old number, which i no longer have access to and I'd forgotten to add my new number to my settings in my account so now it's impossible to login.

Can someone kindly help me as soon as possible, please as I use my account for my work, to contact my seriously ill friend and my elderly parents and work colleagues.

I'd really appreciate your help with this issue as it's really frustrating me.

Kind regards

    Hi @ellectrik

You mention an 'authentication code' to a phone number. That doesn't sound like a Forum account issue as we don't use those.

You can find contacts here for different MSE services. That's the quickest way to make sure you get the right help.

Or if you do email the Forum Team as mentioned, we will forward your email to the right people.

I think she means she can’t log into Facebook.

You would need to contact Facebook support for that I’m afraid

That's correct. Because my old mobile number is listed on my facebook settings (i forgot to change it to my new one) I cannot recieve the authorization code. I get the email code fine but the 2nd security part (mobile code sms) won't work due to it being an old number.

And contacting Facebook is nigh on impossible. If anyone has any links or proper phone numbers or email addresses where I can get assistance I would really appreciate it.

I've literally only just come out of hospital myself and this added stress is really getting to me.

    😔
  • I have a Facebook account which I never use. I've just done a quick test, though, and without actually changing the password it appears to solve your problem providing you've just changed your number and not the phone.

if Facebook require two factor authentication to your mobile phone and you no longer have the number then you're going to have to contact Facebook because obviously the whole purpose of 2FA is to stop you getting in unless you have the number
