If there's no facility on it, then you'll have to live with it. Sometimes there is a switch underneath?

I've a great little Sony unit, but its very bright. The only thing i do is angle it away from me so i can still read it but its not pointing at me.
  • Hi there,
It has a dimming switch on back of unit ,but it is still overbright at the lowest!
Thinking of putting some sort of a filter over it ?? but what ??

Improvise! Open your tin of Quality Street, choose a couple of chocies that are wrapped in the same coloured cellophane and sellotape over the screen. It might look rubbish in daylight but at night, it might be just right. Let us know what you decide.

We have one with a Dim/Bright switch but even on Dim it's far too bright at night. I think that your best bet would be to find some suitable semi-translucent adhesive tape that would act as a filter.

I just had this problem today having fitted a psu for a pc card reader last night, the daughter was saying the bright led was keeping her awake so solution I put some insulating tape over the led, it still shines through but no where near as bright.

She also had this on a ipod/alarm clock but we could turn the brightness down on the lcd screen

You could drape some see through knickers over it.. ;)

I managed to obtain some ND filter material from a friendly TV lighting chap, which I put over my incredibly bright LED.

The suggestion of sweet wrappers is a great cheap solution.

  • Hi there ,thanks for all your replys especially the see through knickers option .
Have decided to go for the quality street wrapper idea (thanks islandman -genius !) for a temporary measure.

After new year will go in search of this ND filter material TV stuff for a full time solution !!

Poppycat, wouldnt be able to see the numerals with the insulating tape but good idea for your problem .

Will let you know how the quality street idea work out tomorrow ..

    Take care, Spring

I wondered if you could mask the screen with some thin paper/mesh and stick one end with tape only issue would be it may look less appealing
