Flying home from Dominican Republic to Gatwick at 8.30 in the evening. Can anyone tell me whether you will just receive a snack after take off or a full meal as it's so late in the evening please? Thanks

Pretty sure it would be a hot meal after take off, and then a light breakfast before landing. The people that will know for sure will be on the FlyerTalk forum! British Airways | Executive Club - FlyerTalk Forums2

Dinner about 90 mins after departure. A light breakfast about 90 mins before arrival into LGW. Don’t get excited about the light breakfast offered on BA/LGW routes.0

It will be a full meal, we fly this route most years. I didn't think it was too bad and I'm not a a fan of airline food. Breakfast was another matter, a beef and cheese wrap and a warmed up ham sandwich for kids. A croissant and yoghurt would be much better.0

With a long haul evening flight I prefer to get a meal at the airport and enough drinks to knock myself out then try to get to sleep as soon as possible, telling the crew not to wake you for the meal service. Maybe take some snacks in case you get hungry during the flight.0

Thanks for all your comments. Yes dinner and breakfast. Breakfast was a ciabatta roll filled with scrambled egg and what I can only describe as sandwich meats! Yuck. Granola in yoghurt was nice though. Hot coffee can't be too difficult to arrange on these flights can they? Apparently yes it can!

Timings depend on length and direction of travel too.I find most onboard food pretty poor although on my flight to hong kong last saturday the onboard kung pow chicken was lovely.I always try and fill up with food and drink at the lounge although the food in the lounge last weekend was poor and very much vegetarian leaning.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

It is not really a good idea to eat a meal before a flight, especially longhaul,as your digestion and the decrease in pressure will lead to bloating and increased flatulence.Much more sensible to enter the plane with a lightly loaded stomach and take the airline food which will be served when pressure inside cabin has stabilised, more comfortable for yourself and others roundabout you.1
