Why are all Fixed Savings Accounts only available to single account holders and not Joint Accounts?

Nationwide has a fixed rate 1 year bond, which is open to 2 account holders if you have or open an online banking account

They may well have other options, this one is not massively high interest, but more than 3.75%

Charter Savings pays 5.07% for 1 Year and is available to joint account holders. This trumps Nationwide.

Choices aren't just about the numbers, if the OP hasn't heard of Charter and feels a bit squeamish about putting money somewhere new like that, she may prefer to take a hit on the interest rate to be with an organisation she has heard of.
