Move from Octopus fixed fariff
My current Octopus fixed tariff has an exit fee of £75, but if I switch to the latest fixed tariff there would be an annual saving of £66 roughly based on their estimate of my usage. They reckon this means that it is not worth changing. But my feeling is that as their new fixed tariff has no exit fees I might as well change now and then change again if a lower tariff comes in. I could decide to go to their standard variable tariff or the Tracker at any later point, as well as to a future fixed tariff.
If I had to wait until my year is up I would be staying on my current tariff until September, so I think changing now makes sense.
heating is (unless I decide to use electricity at times) communal and so not charged to my Octopus account. The flat is electricity only, no gas.
Just wondering what others would do?

I'd look at the sums and consider moving to Tracker now if that's something you are already considering. I paid £75 in December to exit the fixed gas tarriff I'd moved to, and made that back in 6 weeks, but of course the summer is allegedly coming at some point, so the savings may not work for you now. Time to look back at what you've used previously across the summer and see if there are savings to be made despite the exit fee.
