Is there anything on the travel agents site about cost of changes to bookings?
  • No there is not. There's Ts and Cs state a charge but that's for a name change or change of lead passenger which is £50. Nothing about costs for incorrect spelling.

On that basis the charge for changing a single letter in a name makes no sense.  Maybe call them again and say you want to change the name, rather than just one letter.  That should only be £50.

Their terms actually say “ We charge a £50 amendment fee per person for each detail of your booking we allow you to change. This is in addition to any charges from the supplier(s).”

No Operator will lay out every possible combination of change or amendment. The catch-all is their term above. Seems fair and clear.

It would not be uncommon for an administration charge to be made (in this case £50) for D2 to spend time making this amendment for you.

Had the reservation been checked and the issue highlighted to D2 within 48 hours they suggest that they waive their administrative fee.
  • This exact thing happened to me except it was MY NAME they spelt wrong and we had a right shouting match about whether I would spell my own name wrong - the flight was within a week of me noticing - I wish I'd never noticed as I paid another £250 odd quid for some fool to change it - on a keyboard which obs I could have done myself.  It is #daylightrobbery and I'm sure it's done on purpose by unscrupulous travel agents.

    >> As it turns out I used a QR code to access Departures & board each flight so no one would even have noticed.<<

Was fuming as it turned an affordable ticket into just the sort of prices that meant I wouldn't have gone.
