Car Insurance

I have a car currently insured full comp. However I want to get my old car going which is currently off the road for the next year or so to preserve my newer car ( I am racking up mileage like its going out of fashion

However I don't want my car sat in my parents garage uninsured. Can I insure two cars on one policy?

As far as i know you will need two policies, however i do know that you can get temp cover for a second car .(but you do need to have the main car insured, then the second car is just attached onto your policy)
I had two cars for a while and whenever i needed to use the second car i rung up the insurace comp and they gave me a cover note, it was expensive, i think £15 per week, but the car was not worh a massive amount of money.
If i were you i would drop the cover to tpft on the car that is not being used.

Yes, you can generally insure 2 cars under a single motor policy.

But each car will have to have its own no claims discount. Some companies seem to match the no claims discount on a second vehicle as a marketing ploy - the following thread may assist:

If you not going to be using the car at all that is in the garage for the time being, you may wish to make enquiries with your current insurer about "laid up cover". You will presumably have to notify DVLA accordingly - statuory declaration? The benefit will be a reduced premium, even less than normal TPFT rates. You would need to check the exact level of cover.

If you're happy with your current insurer, get in touch with them and see what they can do for you.

Let us know how you get on.
