Are you sure it's Glasgow and not Paisley?

Any of these names ring a bell?

Not any of these individuals no. This guy lives in Hull, but his company is registered in Glasgow.

Seems like the claim is the only option I have, other than letting this person rinse me for a couple of grand and swan off into the sunset. I will grudgingly spend money to get some kind of black mark against the company.
Pointless as they just liquidate the company and start again.
I appreciate that this is an obvious risk.

What other options do I have? What is stopping this person doing this to hundreds more people? I just can't fathom how it's even possible that there is no come-back on him. When does it become criminal behaviour? If the engine was £19000 would that make any difference?
    Viable options? Very little.

As galling as it is that's the way it is. Him and any Ltd companies are distinct entities.

The mistake you made was paying by bank transfer with zero protection. If you want to spend more money trying to get a CCJ then trying to enforce it that's your prerogative but you need to be prepared for getting nothing from that few hundred quid trying to pursue it. It's shockingly easy for them to move on and set up a new company.

Bank transfer maybe reversible if you put goods down in the reference box.   Mum surprisingly got a refund from someone she paid
by bank transfer, luckily she put the name of the goods she was paying for so when they failed to deliver she managed to get
    a refund.

We don't have the full story though whether the person's account the money was paid into agreed to the refunds or whether the
    banks/police forced it etc.

The registered office for the company in question is in Glasgow, although some research I've done and the accent of the man says that this person lives in England.

If you're relying on somebody's accent to establish where they legally reside you're going to get nowhere, I have a Gloucestershire accent but after leaving there I've lived in Hull, Birmingham, Wellington (NZ), Edinburgh, Brighton, London, Aberdeen, Perthshire and Birmingham (again) and have never picked up the local accent at any of them.

So what is the company's name and address and his if possible?

  • I'd rather not give out the full name and address on an open forum while I am still looking at getting my money back, but the company initials are PP Limited and the director's initials are CW, so definitely swerve them if you are looking for a replacement car engine.

There presumably is a procedure for having people disqualified as company directors.
