Whirlpool, Hotpoint, Indesit 10 yr parts warranty

I've just rung Indesit about a fault with my tumble dryer. I was told that I'd have to pay £122 for a call out and repair and then the agent proceeded to harrang me about buying a variety of extended warranties for extortionate prices. Is my 10yr 'parts guarantee' valid if I call a local repair shop and they discover that a part is required?

More importantly, when did you buy it, where from and how did you pay? You may be going down a warranty route unnecessarily.0 -
Normally with the 10 year parts warranty you have to pay for a hotpoint/whirlpool/indesit engineer to attend. So essentially you pay the labour.
Most of the time its cheaper to use an independent and pay parts and labour yourself but depends whats broken
What is the fault with the tumble dryer? We may be able to tell you what the fix is?FTB - April 20200 -
The warranty can have any terms it likes as it’s in addition to your statutory rights. If you want to exercise these rights, then you need to speak with the retailer you purchased from. Depending on how long ago that was, you might need to jump through some hoops.0
