After playing the National Lottery since its inception, my wife finally won a 4 figure prize last Saturday 24th February!
Previously you could go to the Post Office to validate the ticket and receive your payout. You now have to put a claim in online, you are given a claim reference, then you have to wait. Now going into week 2 and still nothing, raised complaint and reply was that they don't know when it will be paid out!
Shambles of a company that has taken over!🤬

    After sending in a photograph of the ticket on the original claim, they now want us to post the ticket to them!

    Day 12 and still not paid out a bean, who gave them a licence to run the Lotto?

    That's a very strange request!

    Sending a lottery ticket with a winning prize value of thousands of pounds through the post, sounds almost as risky as sending thousands of pounds in cash through the post.

    I guess you'll want to insure the letter, in case it gets lost in the post. And if that happens, you'll then probably have a big 3-way  argument with Royal Mail and the Lottery organisers, trying to prove that a winning lottery ticket was in the lost letter.

    Plus the risk that the Lottery organisers lose the ticket (e.g. They say they received your letter, but claim that no winning lottery ticket was in it.)

    All Sent by 24hr tracked delivery, suppose that they could say no ticket was inside envelope when it arrived, seems like a total shambles. The win is quite moderate, but do they have same procedure for £50k, £100K or higher?

    If it was a big win I'd hand deliver it

    So, week 3, complaint lodged with standard response, asked for it to be escalated, wait 10 days was the response!
    No acknowledgement of ticket being received apart from Royal Mail tracking!

    @Alex444 Congratulations!

    I do the Lottery online. I don't even have to bother checking if I've won. They tell me.
    Though only small amounts so far. £30 last week. And the same 14 months ago.

    And after hearing your story, I won't be buying a physical ticket ever again.

    Enjoy spending it!
