Direct debit success

After looking through our direct debits we realised we had been paying for a home serve boiler and pipe cover for an old address we haven’t lived at for 7 years @ £18 a month. We have now cancelled this and was wondering if we could claim the money paid out back? Thanks

No harm in trying, but you're probably in for a bit of a battle.0

You can't claim anything backMattWalks24 said:After looking through our direct debits we realised we had been paying for a home serve boiler and pipe cover for an old address we haven’t lived at for 7 years @ £18 a month. You can ask them nicely with proof of your address change and see if they will give you something as a courtesySam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

You didn't notice that £18 per month was being taken by direct debit for 7 years???

I would think that the chances of you getting anything back are between zilch and nada.1 -
Did you notify the provider of your change of address and/or attempt to cancel the contract at the time?MattWalks24 said:After looking through our direct debits we realised we had been paying for a home serve boiler and pipe cover for an old address we haven’t lived at for 7 years @ £18 a month. Yes, noticed it, but thought we had changed the address over, until we called them to try and get it reduced they said it’s not even registered to your current address.0
