Beware Clydesdale mortgage customers

I redeemed my Clydesdale mortgage 10 days ago and on the advice of my solicitor did not cancel my direct debit as she said Clydesdale would do that. So today I was shocked to realise they have taken another payment of £3K from my account (at punitive rate of interest of 9.9% as was out of fixed rate, hence the remortgage with another lender). Clydesdale say they will only refund in 3 - 5 working days. This is not fair as it's their mistake and they have also refused to pay my bank interest charges on this amount. It has taken me way into my overdraft.

I had a Clydesdale mortgage. They ****ed up the admin of it, frequently trying and failing to take payments from a defunct account they knew about & had been reminded of rather than my main account elsewhere they knew about then writing rude letters about missed payments. And I was living next door to the local branch manager.....
Complaints dragged on & on. In the end I had to start another complaint about the original complaint handling. Had 1inch high stack of paperwork evidence.
In the end there was a £600 "sorry" payment. But I'd prefer if it never happened.
I will NEVER do business with them again.
Any more horror stories??0 -
Playing devils advocate, why didn't you ask Clydesdale rather than you Solicitor if you should have cancelled the DD. Being that close to the due date I'd have been cancelling.0
