Such a relief , I’m still on a tight budget for the month as I paid my usual amount but it’s such a relief I can’t even tell you. I’ve made myself a budget and allowing a couple of tiny treats each month , nothing crazy  :D. Xxx

Hello all , happy humpday !
im just making a post to keep a track on my unaffordable lending claims, I’m not expecting anything at all , but my success with vanquis has inspired me to peruse the others. I have made a timeline of everything so far below:
    • Vanquis ❌ rejected by vanquis ✅won claim with financial ombudsman remaining balance cleared (July 2023) (complaint acknowledged April 2023)
    • Capital One ❌
    • Capital one ❌ both rejected my original complaint 🫱🏽‍🫲🏻currently with financial ombudsman (referred March 2024, original complaint acknowledged April 2023)
    • Zable (Lendable) ❌ complaint acknowledged (March 2024) but no decision made within 8 weeks 🫱🏽‍🫲🏻sent complaint to ombudsman (referred May 2024)
    • New day Ltd (Fluid) ❌ made original complaint in August 2023 with no response ❌ complained again in March 2024 with no response within the 8 weeks 🫱🏽‍🫲🏻 referred to the ombudsman (referred may 2024)
    • 118 118 money loan ❌
    • 118 118 money credit card ❌  original complaint acknowledged March 2024) both complaints rejected by creditor 🫱🏽‍🫲🏻 referred to financial ombudsman (referred end of April 2024)
    • I also put in a complaint to tappilly (safety net credit) who have since liquidated so the amount I owe has been ‘partially settled’. Not ideal but out of my hands.
Of course, and I’ve said this in previous posts, I take responsibility for myself and I have now cleared each balance but intrigue has got me more than anything.

Ive had a bit of toothache this week and had to book an emergency appointment at the dentist , I have the beginnings of an abscess :( antibiotics and eventually a root canal or extraction. Great , it one of those annoying expenses but I’m so grateful to have an NHS dentist and it is worth every penny , the appointment and the prescription was £30 in total but something I can’t avoid really. This is why I am keen to build up my emergency fund for situations like this , fortunately I was able to cover it but only just.

From June onwards I’m going to be beginning the saveaholic part of my journey. I want to try and get to £2000 by the end of the year, mostly for an emergency fund but also a rainy day fund for little treats every now and again.

I get a little pay rise from June onwards as well , so in the last year or so my pay is up £2k per annum and my hourly rate is up 50p per hour (I have a complicated pay structure but it is a very nice improvement). I have also been looking at the ‘boost my income’ forum , I have signed up for market research and surveys. Ive also signed up to free cash and tester up in hopes of making a few extra quid. I’m not going to get complacent when there’s money to be made towards for savings goals …

However , I’m not going to put too much pressure on myself ,I want to be able to be motivated to see my savings grow just as I did when my DMP dashboard showed my progress. I’m looking forward to documenting my progress here , all the ups and downs.

    onto the next one ,

Just reading your post and I am inspired, I’m so happy for you, I’m determined more than ever now to get myself out of this mess.
I’ve had depression/anxiety for over 20 years, I am medicated and it’s not something I see ever getting over I will live with it but I cannot let it to continue to control my life, by then causing the anxiety and guilt and shame - which I have to say has left me suicidal in the past,
I too wish I had known about defaulting on my accounts before entering DMP but like you I was sacred and worried about creditors.

Here is to a happier more positive future - you should be so proud of yourself - well done, just shows hard work pays off 😁

Musings now the dust has settled

So, here we are, a week after my final payment and I feel a bit meh tbh…

I think it’s because I am still on my budget for this month and it’s feeling very tough (even on day 3 of the month). I am still restricted like I was before and have no room to manoeuvre with my pennies.

However, in the spirit of being positive and celebrating little victories… had I not restricted myself the last 6 months, I would actually have another 19 months to go on my DMP.

its been a few months of pain for a life time of gain (is it Dave Ramsey who says that ?) I was living fairly comfortably on my £300 per month payments but the debt felt like a dark cloud following me around … I felt like I didn’t deserve to treat myself or spend money and that’s what spurred me on to get bloody rid of it. (We DO deserve to be happy though, even with debt, but that’s just how I felt)

its mixed emotions as you can see, overall it is very positive and I just need to get through this month… which isn’t really a long time. I’m going to being my year in June.

June will be day zero! Let’s go

    Well done you!

I wish I could get into this mindset, I’m struggling at the moment mentally, I’ll be ok come end of June pay when I’m back to work and can start doing overtime again, I can really start to budget and sort my finances out, it’s just difficult at the mo and feeling like you say a bit meh today

It’s not a linear journey and you’re definitely allowed to feel a bit meh , it’s a mindset I sometimes have to force myself into! A little victory for you will be that everyday is a day closer to being back at work  <3

definitely send me a PM if you ever need to chat x
