Sky Cinema - Unwanted or asked for

I think most people would be happy getting a freebie, however as you delegated your neighbour to oversee the installation and then either didn't get the information from them or see the email from Sky regarding the cinema offer that was currently being offered.
Sky told you but you didn't act in time to avoid charges at the end of the free period.3 -
that is not how it works.
a company cannot just willy-nilly apply a 'free trial' to the account and then take payment when it expires and rely on the fact 'oh we sent you an email'
unless the OP (and not her neighbour) explicity agreed to the free trial and its terms and conditions they cannot do this. Complain.0 -

agreed - but the neighbour is not the account holder0

I don’t think the installer can add on to a package. It’s usually done over the phone/website/app as it’s your viewing card that needs the information on what channels you subscribe to.However, I have Sky and can view my previous, latest and future bills at any time on both website/app so there’s really no excuse for not knowing what you’re paying.1

Olinda99 said:agreed - but the neighbour is not the account holderUltimately, if the engineer has added it, then it is sketchy from Sky to ask engineers to upsell on the day. But the neighbours response should’ve been ‘I’m just the neighbour - I’ve been authorised to allow you to install the product but I haven’t got authority to add or remove services’. If the engineer didn’t know that it was the neighbour then there is an argument that Sky made a good faith change.I think the OP needs to go back to Sky and clarify, from their Point of View, exactly how it was purchased. If through the engineer, then I’m afraid it may be an uphill battle to get a full refund; and I would just cancel it. If Sky has added it unilaterally (ie without agreement from you or any other person you have given the agency to) then it is clearly wrong. Without knowing the exact mechanism of sign up it’s hard to say what has gone on.1

I would bet my bottom dollar the neighbour is no such thing
although the OP is the only one who can confirm, I doubt she gave the neighbor full agency rights (including account change authority - do Sky even allow such a thing?) or did she just ask the neighbour to let the Sky engineer in to install the equipment0 -
Quick update, After lots of backwards and forwards I now have a full refund of the Sky Cinema that I did not ask for.1
