Bettermove

I lost £1000 to Bettermove by believing there was someone else interested in a property I was interested in! Not used to buying a property I placed my money then was sent a legal agreement after that. My solicitor told me not to go ahead with the deal and I lost my money.

Unfortunately you have learned an expensive lesson that you should steer clear of all house sales that require the potential buyer to pay upfront non returnable fees. It could have been worse you could have lost a lot more on a modern method of auction property.

Fully agreed. It can take some time going through the buying process before problems become evident. I would have to be in a situation where I've paid £10,000 in non-refundable fees (or even £1000 as here) and then I find out something about the property that rules it out or even I don't like. Much weaker negotiating position in terms of nasties found during a survey too.

As said, modern method of auction would be an even worse situation than the one the OP is in.

Ok - but you told us the same story 3 months ago. Has anything changed, or are you seeking more advice?
