Missing eBay purchase

I bought an item from eBay, but it has still not arrived and should have been here a week ago. I had a tracking number but it just says it’s in the possession of RM and they won’t say any more until they’ve attempted delivery. It’s a fairly rare item, so not easily replaced, the seller seems really decent, plenty of 100% good feedback, and has the same info from RM as I have. 

Is there anything I can do, or might it be lost in the post? What do I do if it is? It’s hardly the sellers fault, and it’s not like they’d have another to sell me. 

Anyway, I presume there’s nothing I can do, but just thought I’d ask.

You need to open an INR case , seller will refund you and can then reclaim their own losses from RM.

Technically, and according to RM, it's not missing until 15 days have passed (or is it 15 working days?). Although many sellers will sort things out with you quicker than that. But just this week, I had a buyer tell me that the item and it's replacement came together.

I wouldn’t take much notice of the tracking, to be honest. I’ve had items delivered that are still showing sitting in a sorting office somewhere weeks later. 

It’s probably worth holding on a bit longer to see if it turns up.

As it's an item not easily replaced, I'd be inclined to try and contact RM (via Twitter maybe?) to see if their internal tracking info sheds any light on where it is. 
I've had possible success doing that in the past (and with Hermes), as the parcels were then located either by coincidence or nudged by me contacting them, not sure which.  To be fair that was before all the staffing and overtime cuts though.  It's certainly no guarantee and you may well not get anywhere trying that, but it wouldn't do any harm to at least try.

Something going on at RM??  Waiting for several parcels and  none of them arriving makes it seem more likely to be a RM issue
rather than a seller issue.  All sellers put RM for delivery.  Although I did receive one item at 7:20pm which is super late
around here.

A few items which were expected by Tuesday still have not arrived.

Happily the item turned up. It could have got here quicker if the seller had strapped it to a tortoise, but anyway, happy ending😁
