Morning Gers and thank you for starting us off.
I'm off to make my first cuppa of the day. xx

Good morning, thanks for starting Gers.
It's bitterly cold here, brrr. Yesterday turned into a horrible wet day, we have had so much rain over the past few months.
Hope young Esther has improved, and Snoozer, hope you've managed to rest a bit. What a worry for you all.
We took an old friend for her hospital appt yesterday, then brought her back here for lunch. We had a nice day with her, as a young woman she knew Dh's parents, and has known dh since he was young.( A long time ago!) He got out some photos of people she knew years ago, so the afternoon was spent reminiscing.
Rosy, hope your trip to the dentist wasn't too painful. I once had a cracked filling that had to be drilled out, and the tooth refilled - my jaw was aching with holding my mouth open for so long.
Izzy, you've retired! Congratulations! You're free of your awful employers at last.
It's your time now, enjoy it as much as you can.
We have no particular plans today, there's the usual jobs to do round the house.
Thinking of our poorly people, particularly baby Esther.
Take care folks.

Happy Saturday everyone
Izzy - hope there are lots of sighs of reliefs and celebrations - enjoy your holiday. Did your employers mark your retirement at all?
Snoozer - how is little Esther?
Well it’s currently snowing heavily here in the Midlands……we’re up a hill and have our own microclimate so it’s likely just sleet or rain in town. I have to get DM to hospital mid-morning for her cancer treatment so that could be fun…….also wanted to pop to the fabric shop but that may have to wait.I did finish up getting my temporary tooth inlay smoothed off, only for the whole thing to fall off yesterday. The permanent one is due to be sorted on Wednesday and it’s neither painful nor a problem at the moment so fingers crossed I can get through four days as I really don’t have time to go back again.Little dog will get wrapped up in his coat and out for a play in the snow after breakfast and will be very excited.Take care

Since my first post I've showered and been into town and back.Yesterday was spent faffing around, dropping off lots of stuff at two CS, picking up some cheese and biscuits from the wee deli and so on. Once my nephew and niece arrived in Glasgow (late morning) I was restless until they got here - which wasn't until past 8.00p.m. And what a surprise I got - my youngest nephew from QLD had decided to come across (without telling me) to be my birthday present!
Only my niece knew as she had to help organise her brother, the other brother didn't know either, so double surprises. What a joy it was even though things became rather chaotic and busy.
I took them up to the holiday cottage quite late on and then had a very 'awake' night as I was so excited. I've been up to the cottage this morning, everyone still asleep, to leave more loo roll and a couple of jumpers. Blankets at the ready.Once they have roused we're having breakfast out and then who knows what.11 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS. I thought March might bring some nice Spring weather with it but sadly not. It's pouring down here and a bit foggy.. The sleet earlier didn't develop into snow thank goodness.
It was my intention to catch the early bus into town this morning but the heavy rain has put a stop to that idea. If it eases off a bit I may still go down later but if it doesn't then I shall stay put! There's nothing on fire so I might just postpone it until Monday. So probably it will end up a Slothful Saturday.
IZZY happy first day of retirement and have a lovely break away. SNOOZER hoping for better news about Esther. ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones, sad and lonely. Take care all and be safe x
Editing as cross posting! What a lovely surprise for you GERS. Enjoy their visit. x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Morning all, this morning I have to go out as I have a haircut booked at 9.30. I'm going with DD and it's only in the next village, it's a good job it's not far as it's trying it's hardest to snow, and it's freezing ! At least I won't look like like Worzel Gummidge when she's finished.
I found my bag yesterday and now most of my hospital stuff is laid out on the bed ready for packing next week.
Izzy happy 1st retirement day !
Gers have a great family time with your relatives.
Snoozer hope Esther is improving.
Scarlet glad you had a nice afternoon yesterday.
Take care all

Morning everyone believe or not I haven’t been up that long thank you for all your good wishes I got a shock yesterday they actually both came down to see me before I went and gave me flowers and a card she was actually in tears and they both gave me a cuddle and said they didn’t want me to go and thanked me for all my hard work and they didn’t know how the place was going to run without me and no explanation needed if I want to ever go back for any hours any length of time just to walk in the door there was always a place for me I thanked them both and said I knew at Xmas when we had that week off I was ready for retirement I had made my mind up but I’m pleased it didn’t end on a sour note .When I got to work the people at the church I volunteer at every other Friday had left a card for me that they had all signed I’m not the least bit religious it’s just a community food based food waste thing I help with just to help out in the community but I thought it was lovely of them . I’m all packed and ready to go up to Northumberland now I just have a few last minute checks to do and we are off I will be reading along and thinking of all you lovely people. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing13

Morning all, it's a bit dull here with frozen windscreens. We had a bit of snow here but DS went for a hill walk nearby and it was like a blizzard. Usual DGS football today but a later start, yay, then going to the match this afternoon.Gers what a lovely surprise, enjoy your visitors.Snoozer hope Esther is feeling better and you got some restIzzy, I bet you feel a weight lifted off your shoulders now you've finished work. Enjoy your break!Scarlet , it wasn't me with tooth problems, perhaps Ruby- similar names
and I see Allie has also had (unsuccesful) treatment. Hope they get resolved. It sounds like you had a nice afternoon reminiscing with your old friend.
Thai curry for later, not sure if DS1 will be here or not but perhaps I'd better get extra in case he comes back with his young lady.Hope it's a good weekend for you all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)10 -
Morning everyone
Izzy I'm so pleased your bosses gave you a proper send off and your retirement started on a happy note. Enjoy your time in Northumberland x
I have no plans today but have told DD I don't mind having little one for a bit if she has things to do. I do need to take her shopping at some point, to choose something for Mothers Day and for DDs birthday in a couple of weeks time. Other than that I plan to cook a pan of chilli and carry on reading my book.
Little one had enjoyed her morning back at school yesterday....hopefully she'll be back full time next week.
Right I'm going to get on, I've been spending too much time on the laptop this last week.
Hope little Esther is home and ok Snoozer
Enjoy your visitors Gers - hope everyone has a good day x10 -
Morning all. Still awaiting Spring here brrrrrr
Gers: what a lovely surprise for you last night. I hope you're on your way out to a yummy breakfast now
Izzy: Happy first day of retirement! Such a shock that they came to see you in the shop but pleased they have marked the occasion in a nice way. Now go off and enjoy your holiday.
I hope things are ok regarding Esther in the Snoozer household; thinking of them all.
We had a great time last night at a Morris Ale. Lots of dancing, playing music, eating and drinking. Late getting home so consequently late getting going this morning. I have one load of washing in and will be making cauliflower cheese later. Might make some low carb granola as well, depending on what ingredients I have in the cupboard.
Happy Saturday everyone11
