And why is that hard to believe? That it was only "a little bit"?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Hi GP
I had a thing with my Barclaycard being used in Gibraltar - I nearly missed it because I was in Gib 9 days after the transaction - it was only when I realised that I hadnt used it (mainly because they'd blocked it due to me making late payments :rotfl: ) that I checked the date. They sent me some forms which I completed and sent back and they removed the transaction. What struck me was how it hadnt been rejected because my card was blocked anyway !!!!!
It was however cleared up quickly so hopefully yours should be too.Mortgage, paid off!0 -

This is something that worries me as all my credit cards and current account have tried to sell me insurance against identity theft recently and being skint I've declined it all. they seem to be trying to imply that it's all going to be MY problem if I haven't taken out the insurance and someone uses my details fraudulently but is this really the case?Mortgage OP 2026 £640/2000Mortgage balance: £32,222

When the new card came through and I had to call to activate it, I got the usual "this takes a few moments to activate sir...while you wait, can I interest you in..........."
(and I know this is a marketing ploy, as I used to work on the card activation line for American Express yonks ago....)
One of the things she tried to sell me was their £69.99 identity theft insurance package.
Sly !!!!!!s.
Sometimes the cynical / paranoid part of me thinks that banks and credit card companies make these fraudulent transactions themselves (or maybe accidentally leave a selection of credit card numbers lying around dodgy east end pubs) to whip us up into a hysterical frenzy, so that they will appear as knights on white horses, offering us protection at ' a reasonable price'....0
